Walk-ins at shelter halted due to COVID | Columbia County

Concerns about the local rise in coronavirus cases have prompted the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA to close its lobby to visitors, said Ron Perez, president/CEO, at the shelter.

Adoptions, deliveries and other services will be available by appointment only until further notice.

“As you know, this situation is resilient, but we will do everything we can to make sure that our employees, animals, customers, and consumers remain safe,” Perez said. “We thank you for your continued support and appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time.”

To approve appointments and surrender, please contact Office Administrator Katie Brack at 518-828-6044, ext. 106 or email katie@cghs.org

For all other shelter services, including dog care, daycare, and grooming (which will remain open), please contact shelter manager Jessica Farkas at 518-828-6044, ext. 100 or send an email to Jessica@cghs.org.

The food bank at the shelter will continue to operate daily from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Donations of pet food and supplies can be left at the front door. If you need a receipt or have any other questions regarding CGHS, please call Ron Perez at 518-828-6044, ext. 108 or email ronperez@cghs.org, Perez said.

The District of Columbia Health Department reported 102 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday while Greene County reported 93.
