Thanksgiving Day Dog Trot to benefit the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society

ALBANI, NY (NEWS10) – You can bring your four-legged friend for a Thanksgiving morning walk, and for good reason. The Thanksgiving Day Dog Trot will return for its sixth year for the benefit of the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.

The Dog Trot will take place on November 25 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Capital Hills at Albany Golf Course. Albany County Legislature Speaker Andrew Joyce and his dog Diego will be present.

“The epidemic affected not only the residents of our county, but also many animals and pets. I am glad that we can continue to run dogs this year and help our four-legged friends who cannot ask for help,” said Joyce. “It has become an annual tradition. Where people can safely gather with their canines while getting some fresh air and help with shelter when needed.”

Participants are asked to bring dry or canned food for dogs or cats to help feed the shelter pets and support the pet food pantry. The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society needs Nylabones or Benebones that are large or extra large for dogs and Greenies Pill Pockets to help give dogs medication. Donations of cash or checks will also be accepted.

Participants are asked to social distance while walking the tracks.
