Pets of the week: Scooby is looking for his gang. Our Sunshine is a ray of sunshine

Jackson, Me – Scooby and Sunshine are just two of the many animals in the Cascades Humane Society looking for forever loving homes.

Scooby is a very handsome 3½ year old boxer mix who loves Scooby snacks (treats of course) and is very passionate about pleasing humans.

Scooby sits pretty well and we think it would be a great candidate to learn more. He doesn’t seem to interact with other dogs, but we always like to do a meet-and-greet to make sure it’s a good fit. Please bring proof of rabies vaccination for your current dog. Scooby Looking For Scooby Gang – Are You?

Meet our sunbeam. Sunshine is a 9 year old female cat with orange markings. You can never guess her age because she is still full of life and has a lot to love.

Sunshine loves to rub you in, out loud to show she cares about you. It will be a wonderful pet for the family.

When I arrived, Sunshine showed some evidence of a possible skin allergy to a flea treatment or a particular food. The vet checked her, treated the allergy with some steroids and it seemed to have gone away.

We have more in-depth details from your vet to send home with potential adopters. This is just something we suggest monitoring in the future. She is a wonderful girl and forever waiting for her home.

The Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Drive, is open to the public from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. All visitors are required to wear face masks to comply with state orders related to COVID-19.

All dogs and cats in the Cascades Humane Society have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and given parasite protection prior to adoption. Those who adopt pets also receive a free health check from any of 24 area vets.

Dog owners wishing to adopt another dog are required to meet and greet their dog and the dog they choose to adopt.

CHS has also added services to the Spay and Neuter Assistance program. The service, available during spay or neutral surgeries, includes vaccinations, heartworm testing for dogs, FIV and FeLV testing for cats, and dental procedures.

CHS also has a pet food store to help families in financial hardship. CHS accepts food donations for cats or dogs, as long as the food is in its original packaging. Donors can drop food from the shaft fold behind the elbow. Pet Food Pantry is open from noon to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday of the month.

Those considering adopting a Scooby, Sunshine, or other pet can apply to do so here. For more information, call 517-787-7387.
