Update: The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has announced the names of the victims and a shooter from a suicide murder this morning in Tuscaloosa County.
The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office was called to a Hinton Place home in the shooting around 3 a.m., and witnesses told MPs who arrived on the scene that 34-year-old Darren Lamar Patton Jr. may have shot his girlfriend at the house during the controversy.
The witness said they ran out of the house before deputies arrived, and said Patton, Derica Shanice McGee, 29, and 8-year-old Aiden Carter Williams were still inside.
When the sheriff’s office tactical unit entered the house, they found the three dead. All indications are that Patton killed McGee and Williams before he committed suicide.
Investigators said Patton is not the child’s father.
