Dear Sun Spots: A few months ago, I needed help feeding the kitties and turned to the pet food pantry. We are in a better position now and I feel satisfied with our ability to donate kitty food to the organization.
I want to remind pet readers about the Androscoggin Humane Society’s Fetchin pet food pantry. It is a service provided to residents of Auburn, Canton, Green, Hebron, Leeds, Lewiston, Livermore, Minot, New Gloucester, Turner and Wales.
The store is open from 9 to 11 am on Tuesdays except holidays. Inclement weather and extreme conditions may cause the weekly open day to be rescheduled. The program helps people and pets who live in our community. They operate on donations and cannot guarantee the quality of food/litter you will receive on a weekly basis. It is also a first come first serve program. There are requirements to qualify. Call or go to gahumane.org/.
Also, if you lose a pet or find a pet, call the community at 783-2311. Oftentimes, existing pets are brought to the shelter and your furry baby may be waiting for you! – Dennis, Auburn
Answer: Thanks for the reminder! I have a friend who came to a pet food store at 55 Strawberry Ave. In Lewiston for help and she told me how nice everyone is. It’s great that you are in a better place with your money and can thank the store with a donation.
Dear Sun Score: I am looking for a mechanic who has a lot of experience with Subarus. I know I can search on the internet or just try someone new, but I really want some solid and trusted recommendations from my friends at Sun Spots in the Lisbon/Lewiston area. – Alicia, Lisbon
Answer: Well, Sunspotters! You know what to do.
Dear Sun Spots: Do you have names for the auto detailing locations on your Rolodex watch? Sharon, Bowdoin
Answer: I’m sure about that! Your post reminded me that my SUV needs a good refresh and it is best to do it at least once or twice a year. I have Heather’s Auto Detailing (you can message her on Facebook); F6 Detailing is also on Facebook or you can reach them at 240-8720. Avon car wash in Lewiston is another option. She can be reached at 782-4009.
If you have a detailed service, especially one that comes to you, that you would like to recommend, please let me know.
Dear Sun Spots: On New Year’s Day, I made a multi-layered Rainbow and Walnut Cake recipe that was on the December 31st of Sun Spots and shared by an anonymous reader. I had all the ingredients and my 6 year old grandson helped me. When I first read the recipe, it seemed to require a lot of work, but I was intrigued by the recipe and ended up having a great time making it. My family and I really enjoyed them the next day. Cookies are very cute too! I just wanted to thank this person for sharing the recipe. I don’t think people take the time to do something like that anymore. It is a pleasure to spend time with a child in the kitchen! – Anna, no town
