Food City launches Friends & Pets in Need holiday food drive | Sunday Stories

The fourth edition of Friends & Pets in Need Holiday Food Drive is rolling out at Food City stores across the region.

“Hunger is a serious problem throughout our region, particularly during the holidays and the cold winter months. Food City is proud to host a number of hunger relief programs throughout the year, including Friends & Pets in Need Holiday Food Drive,” said Stephen C. Smith, President And Food City CEO, “This campaign will benefit local hunger relief organizations and animal shelters across our region at a critical time.”

From now through December 31, private label bags of non-perishable food items, as well as bags containing pet food products, are available for purchase for just $10 (plus taxes) at all Food City locations.

Customers wishing to purchase the bags can deposit them in the collection boxes located at the front of the store. All products collected benefit local hunger relief organizations and animal shelters across the region.

“Millions of Americans and animals need food aid each year. The Food City Friends & Pets in Need Holiday Food Drive is another way we can help those in need here in our neighborhood,” said Kevin Stafford, Vice President of Marketing for Food City.“Food City’s ongoing hunger relief initiatives have been a huge success and we hope to set a new record with this year’s campaign to help our neighbors and friends in need,” Smith said. Food Stores (the parent company of Food City) operates 138 retail outlets throughout southeastern Kentucky, southwestern Virginia, eastern Tennessee, northern Georgia, and Alabama.
